Comparing Meal Boxes: Pack Sizes, Contents and Cost

Quick answer: Compare meal boxes by their selected contents, not their total item count alone. List each protein, side and dessert, check the stated weights and add delivery before comparing value.

Use a simple comparison sheet

For each box, note the product format, number of pieces, weight basis and preparation requirements. Keep proteins and side dishes in separate rows. A box with more items may contain smaller portions or a different mix of foods, so item count by itself cannot show which box suits your household.

  • Beef: distinguish whole steaks, burgers, ground beef and prepared dishes.
  • Chicken: distinguish plain cuts from breaded, stuffed or fully cooked products.
  • Seafood: distinguish shell-on weight from packaged meat weight.
  • Extras: list sides and desserts separately from the main protein.

Compare the Beef Staples Box, Chicken Staples Box and Farm Staples Box by opening the current selected options. The examples do not imply equal contents, weight or availability.

Calculate cost on the same basis

For similar products with clearly stated net weights, divide the delivered total by the pounds included. For example, a hypothetical $90 order containing 5 pounds costs $18 per pound. That result describes the entire order. It does not assign the same value to every steak, side or dessert in a mixed box.

If the weight is shell-on, includes bones or is not stated, do not invent an edible-meat comparison. Ask for the missing information or compare the written package contents without a weight-based calculation.

Match the package to the meals you will make

Write down your planned dinners and the number of diners. Check whether you have the time and equipment required for the products in the box. Ingredient and allergen information matter just as much in a bundle as in a single item. Confirm storage requirements before choosing a pack larger than you can use.

Common questions

Is the biggest discount the best value?

Not necessarily. Compare similar contents and the amount you will use, including delivery. A discount does not resolve missing pack information.

Can I estimate servings from a photo?

No. Use the selected option's piece counts, stated weights and your menu. A serving photo is not a guaranteed portion size.
